Feed Your Family for Less with Lasagna
Lasagna is a family-favorite meal that goes a long way with just a few budget-friendly ingredients. Stock up on ground beef and use store brand lasagna noodles when they’re on sale to stretch your food dollars even more. This delicious lasagna only requires six ingredients!
Serves 6 to 8
no-boil lasagna noodles
(1) 15 ounce
container ricotta cheese
2 ½ cups
shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Brown the ground beef for approximately 7 to 10 minutes in a nonstick skillet that is set over medium to medium-high heat. While the ground beef is cooking, stir and break apart the beef with a wooden spoon. When the meat is cooked, drain. Add the beef back into the skillet. Add the pasta sauce to the skillet; stir.
Lightly grease a 9- x 13-inch baking dish. Spread one-third of the meat sauce in the bottom of the baking dish. Lay 3 noodles in the baking dish. Top noodles with half of the ricotta cheese; gently spread out the ricotta. Sprinkle one-third of the mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta. Repeat process with another one-third of the meat sauce, 3 noodles, and the remaining ricotta cheese. Top the ricotta cheese with the remaining one-third meat sauce and another one-third of the mozzarella cheese. Carefully pour ¼ cup hot water around the inside edge of the baking dish. Using 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil, cover the baking dish tightly.
Bake for 45 minutes. Remove the lasagna from the oven. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining one-third mozzarella cheese on top of the lasagna. Bake, uncovered, for 10 minutes more. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
