Apple Crisp with Maple Syrup and Pecans



1/3 cup
all-purpose flour
1/3 cup
regular oats
½ cup
packed light brown sugar
¼ teaspoon
ground cinnamon
¼ cup
butter, chilled, cut into small bits
4 tablespoons
chopped pecans
3 pounds
Rome apples, peeled and sliced
¼ cup
maple syrup
½ teaspoon
ground cinnamon


Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spoon flour into measuring cup and level the top with a knife. Add flour to a medium-sized bowl, as well as oats, brown sugar, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon. Using two knives or a pastry blender, cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add pecans to bowl; stir ingredients.

Add apples, maple syrup, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon to a large bowl; stir ingredients. Spoon the apple mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish. Sprinkle the oat mixture on top of the apples. Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
